Annual CityCenterDC Tree Lighting Celebrates the Holiday Spirit

CityCenterDC and Events DC are joining forces to celebrate the holiday season in downtown Washington, D.C. The 11th Annual CityCenterDC Holiday Tree Lighting will take place on Saturday, November 30, at The Park at CityCenter.

As part of the event, Grammy-nominated artist Jordin Sparks will perform alongside the American Pops Orchestra. Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to announce our first-time partnership with CityCenterDC as the Musical Artist Sponsor for the 2024 tree lighting ceremony.”

Now in its 11th year, the CityCenterDC Holiday Tree Lighting attracts thousands to downtown D.C. for the lighting of a spectacular 75-foot tree, marking the official start of the holiday season. The event supports Events DC’s efforts to activate downtown with programming that benefits both the community and the economy.

“Events DC aims to engage and entertain both locals and visitors with world-class programming. We are thrilled to feature Jordin Sparks and the American Pops Orchestra at one of D.C.’s most cherished holiday traditions,” said Gates.

Sparks, the youngest winner of American Idol in 2007, recently released her album No Restrictions and has earned numerous accolades, including Billboard and American Music Awards recognition. She will be joined on stage by CityCenterDC, Events DC, and local government officials, with NBC4’s Eun Yang serving as host.

Timothy Lowery, Vice President of Mixed-Use at Hines and General Manager of CityCenterDC, noted, “The annual tree lighting has become a central holiday event in D.C., drawing both locals and visitors year after year to celebrate this beloved tradition.”

The event will feature family-friendly entertainment, including face painting, balloon animals, gourmet popcorn, cotton candy, and mini donuts. Guests will also enjoy two 25-foot reindeer and the “Palmer Alley Dream Closet” art installation.

“Each year, we strive to make the tree lighting better than before, and we are excited to welcome Jordin Sparks and the American Pops Orchestra for what promises to be CityCenterDC’s best tree lighting yet,” said Lowery.

Festivities will begin at 5 p.m., with the tree lighting ceremony starting at 6 p.m. at The Park at CityCenter, located at the corner of New York Avenue NW and 11th Street NW.
